Laser Acupuncture

Every so often we will treat kids as young as 7 years old here at our acupuncture clinic. What does your typical 7-year-old need acupuncture for? For most younger kids, there are 3 common conditions that acupuncture can very easily treat: Migraines, Asthma, and Stress/Anxiety. Some kiddos embrace the adventure of acupuncture needles and do fine with just a bit of nervousness. Once the needles are in, they all realize it's never as uncomfortable as they imagined.

However.....sometimes...no matter how convincing I try to be...some people, regardless of age, are so terrified of needles that no amount of convincing will let me acupuncture them. So. What can we do? How can we help people with the wide range of benefits of acupuncture without actually doing acupuncture?

 

Bring on the lasers! Cold laser therapy, now often described as "Photobiomodulation", is an amazing tool that we often use in our clinic. It is well known to accelerate wound repair (bone, ligament, tendon, nerve, cartilage, skin) and decrease inflammation. We often use our amazing Avant of Apollo Lasers on sports injuries with remarkable results.

What if there's a way to use laser therapy at acupuncture points? Fortunately, there is!  Our Avant laser has the option of focusing laser energy to a very localized point. The result is that laser therapy can be isolated and exposed only to acupuncture points. We've found that using lasers in place of acupuncture needles can induce similar effects as acupuncture needles.
